The return to favor of the Senate in the legislative game

From the first weeks of this new five-year term, he established himself as a key player. Sometimes considered an institution “despised”, often neglected by the executive during the previous mandatethe Senate returned to the center of the legislative game by appearing from the outset as an interlocutor open to dialogue and negotiation.

During the examination of the health bill, almost entirely emptied of its substance after its passage in the National Assembly, senators rewrote much of the text, under the leadership of the rapporteur LR Philippe Bas. A rewriting which allowed the bill to be the subject of an agreement between deputies and senators in a joint joint committee and to be finally adopted definitively by the National Assembly a few days later.
