Avilon may acquire 100% of Volkswagen Group Rus (Volkswagen’s Russian subsidiary) and its Volkswagen Components and Services, Scania Insurance, Scania Finance, and Scania Leasing.
The fact that the government commission for the control of foreign investment approved the sale of the Volkswagen plant in Kaluga, Vedomosti, citing sources wrote 20 April.
The Volkswagen plant in the Grabtsevo technopark near Kaluga was launched in the SKD mode in 2007. Two years later, it switched to full-cycle car production, including welding, painting and assembly. The enterprise can produce up to 225,000 cars per year. In 2015, a plant for the production of 1.6-liter engines was opened there (capacity – 150,000 per year).
Before the downtime, which lasts from March 2022 after the start of the military operation in Ukraine and the withdrawal of foreign companies from the Russian Federation, Volkswagen Polo and Skoda Rapid cars, the Volkswagen Tiguan crossover were produced at the site.
