The Prosecutor General of the Netherlands supported the transfer of “Scythian gold” to Ukraine

The decision of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal to transfer the unique collection of “Scythian gold” to Ukraine may remain in force. This was stated by the Attorney General of the Netherlands.
The decision was made in October 2021 and then appealed by the Crimean museums in January 2022. The cassation appeal was sent to the Supreme Court of the Netherlands, which initiated administrative proceedings in the case.
The collection, which consists of more than two thousand artifacts, was taken to an exhibition at the Allard Pearson Museum in Amsterdam in February 2014 before the annexation of Crimea to Russia. After that, the Netherlands decided not to return the “Scythian gold” to either Ukraine or the museums of the peninsula until the decision of a competent judge or an agreement between the parties.
