The Noginsk food plant in the Moscow region received a certificate from the accredited certification body “Roskachestvo – Halal”, confirming the halal nature of “Provencal Sloboda” mayonnaise, reported Roskachestvo in TASS comments.

“Certification by the Roskachestvo-Halal body is important to confirm the halal nature of the product for buyers in our country, and is also mandatory as a means of expanding sales to foreign markets, to countries with a predominantly Muslim population,” the department said.

Roskachestvo also noted that Provencal and Provencal Olive mayonnaise already have a Russian quality mark.

The first enterprise to receive a halal certificate from Roskachestvo became the Red October factory, which produces Alenka chocolate. The certificate was issued for the production of “Alenka” sweets and chocolates, “Grilyazhnye”, “Bird’s Milk” sweets, etc. Roskachestvo explained that confectionery products recognized as halal should not contain gelatin, carmine and a number of other food additives that are prohibited by Islamic norms .

How note According to Roskachestvo, more than 20 million Muslims live in Russia and their demand for halal products and services is constantly growing. In total, four organizations are now included in the register of issued certificates confirming the halal quality of products.
