Tea and coffee producer JDE Peet`s (which produces Jacobs coffee) will stop selling Tassimo and Moccona brands in Russia. This was reported The Wall Street Journal Fabien Simon, CEO of the company.
He specified that by the end of the year, JDE Peet`s intends to remove the Jacobs brand from the Russian Federation, and the Monarch brand will replace it. Brand new products will not be sent to Russia. The company will also stop selling several other international brands in Russia, including Tassimo and Moccona.
In June, the Russian representative office of the company announced the start of rebranding, and the Jacobs trademark became simply Monarch. This resulted in losses of €185 million ($202.8 million) in the first half. Mr. Simon said about the risks of nationalizing their business in Russia, but the brand does not intend to stop working in the country.
In Russia, the company owns two production facilities – in Novosibirsk and in Gorelovo, Leningrad Region. Jacobs Dow Egbest Rus, the Russian subsidiary of the company, has been operating in the Gorelovo industrial area since April 2015. The plant in the village of Peniki, which produced coffee blends under the brands Jacobs Monarch, Jacobs Monarch Millicano, Carte Noire, is one of the largest in the world.
