The owner of BTK Group Taimuraz Bolloev will manage the assets of Baltika

Taimuraz Bolloev has been appointed president of the Baltika brewing company, follows from the order of the Federal Property Management Agency, which Vedomosti has read. A company representative confirmed this information, but declined to comment further.

Bolloev headed Baltika from 1991 to 2004 (the St. Petersburg plant produced its first products in 1990). The reasons for his departure from the company were not reported. In 2005, he became chairman of the board of directors of BTK Group, which specializes in the development, production and subsequent sale of high-tech clothing for various business sectors, government agencies and the army. In 2012, when the company became the only supplier of clothing for the army, he was appointed its president.

Industry representatives took Bolloev’s return positively. Elena Tyukina, production director of the Krasny Pivovar company, believes that he has done a lot for the industry, has gone from a locksmith at the Stepan Razin Combine to the head of a leading enterprise, and is highly respected. The Association of Beer Producers refused to comment on the actions of individual companies – members of the organization.

Bolloev led Baltika before the Danish Carlsberg took over a large stake in it, and the quality of beer was higher under him, notes independent expert Alexei Nebolsin. He considers his appointment a positive step for the Russian brewing business, as the businessman is unlikely to support the policies of transnational companies to the detriment of Russian producers.

Baltika was founded in 1990. The company produces beer under the brands Baltika, Zhigulevskoye, Tuborg, Zatecky Gus, Kronenbourg 1664, S&R’s Garage and others. At the end of 2022, the company’s revenue increased by 21.96% to 101 billion rubles, net profit for this period amounted to 10 billion rubles, according to SPARK-Interfax. In March 2022, the owner of Baltika, Carlsberg Group, announced its intention to leave the Russian market. In June of this year, she signed an agreement to sell the Russian business, the buyer was not disclosed. In July, it became known about the transfer of Baltika to the temporary administration of the Federal Property Management Agency. The order was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
