The number of established companies in Russia increased by 17% in the first quarter

The number of companies recorded as newly created in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities increased by 17.1% in the first quarter compared to the same period in 2022 and amounted to almost 62,850, informed “Interfax” with reference to the data of the Federal Tax Service.

Compared to the first quarter of 2021, this indicator increased by 11.8%, and from 2020 – by 1.4%. At the same time, the number of companies that ceased operations due to the decision to liquidate companies decreased by 0.4%, amounting to about 10,500 organizations. For the same period in 2021, there were 14,800 such companies, and 12,600 in 2020. In total, in January-March, the number of organizations that terminated their activities for all reasons decreased by 2.1 times compared to 2022, amounting to 34,100 companies .

The number of organizations, the record of which is contained in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, increased in the first three months by 1% to 3.259 million.

Earlier in March, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, speaking with the annual report in the State Duma, informedthat the decline in the Russian economy at the end of 2022 turned out to be moderate, now the economy has returned to the growth trajectory. Mishustin stressed that Russia “withstood” in the face of economic pressure, although it “was not easy.” The Prime Minister noted that “our economic system has shown such flexibility not for the first time.”

During a speech at the congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) on March 16, Russian President Vladimir Putin declaredthat in connection with the departure of foreign companies from the market, there are more “opportunities, prospects for the development [российского] business and its expansion. In early February, the head of state noted that Russia had “colossal potential” for the development of domestic business, and urged it to be supported “in all areas.”
