The number of Russian banks from the top 30 that offer deposits in dollars decreased by a quarter over the year – from 16 to 12. The number of banks where you can make deposits in euros also decreased – from 12 to 11. Frank Media with reference to their analysts.
According to Frank Media, deposits in dollars and euros have ceased to be offered by Sberbank, VTB, Gazprombank, MTS-Bank and Renaissance Credit. Only one deposit remained in the Rosselkhozbank lineup, compared to four offered a year ago.
The volume of supply decreased due to the low demand for such deposits from the population and the tightening of regulation by the Central Bank. In 2023, the Central Bank has already raised the reserve requirements for foreign currency deposits twice, the last time on May 23. The regulator also announced plans to discourage the work of banks with dollars and euros, recalling the risks of sanctions.
According to Frank RG, changes in current deposits in foreign currency are multidirectional. Alfa-Bank, SMP-Bank, AK Bars and Kuban Credit, in turn, Rosselkhozbank, Bank St. Petersburg and Credit Europe lowered the rates on foreign currency deposits by 0.09-0.49 percentage points bank” increased them by 0.07–1.30 p.p. e. for 370 days without replenishment and withdrawal.
