The channel is launching a new format in France, inspired by the board game Le Loup-Garou, in which personalities have to lie to get by.
This Wednesday, August 17, M6 diffuse “Traitors”, a unique psychological adventure game. Adapted from a Dutch format which is a hit on the RTL 4 channel (50% market share on 16-34 and 40% on children) and resembling the life-size Werewolf board game, it pits fourteen personalities from very different backgrounds and locked up in a castle for six days.
50 silver bars to be won
Eric Antoine, at the head of the program, designates three traitors among them. The others, considered loyal, must find the identity of the latter before being eliminated. The goal: to stay in the game until the end in order to win 50 silver bars worth 40,000 euros donated to an association of their choice. “We wanted to break the codes, to find a format that will surprise viewers. Eric Antoine is delighted to have been chosen to present this program: ” I’m lucky ! In this role-playing game, I am the only one, along with the viewers, to know what is happening since it is I who designate the three traitors. It is then up to them to hide, lie, manipulate, or betray. There is a mind-blowing emotional tension!”.
An explosive cast
In addition to its mechanics, the advantage of this unique television game is, without a doubt, its cast mixing personalities with very different backgrounds. And then I was reassured by the presence of Eric…”, he confides. Clémence Castel, double winner of “Koh Lanta”she wanted to learn more about herself: “It made me think a lot about myself, my relationship with others and that was what I had come for”.

A plot worthy of a thriller
Every day, the candidates participate in psychological or physical tests in teams to try to win silver bars. In the evening, the traitors can eliminate a loyal one who will leave the adventure immediately while the loyal ones meet during the vote of the council to eliminate a participant who they think is a traitor. The plot itself is written over the course of the game but also the manipulations and reactions of the participants. “I looked at the unfolding of the story like a reader reading a thriller and the quality of the plot is exceptional”, continues Bernard Weber. The show’s producer confirms: “Things have happened that we would not have imagined, reality is always stronger than fiction! ». The game, which gives pride of place to lies and pretense, was filmed at the Château de Beauvoir in Auvergne last April and left no participant indifferent. “It goes beyond a board game, it took me a long time to recover emotionally. When I got home, I was dreaming about it at night…”concludes Delphine Wespiser.
