The new director of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater returned the head of the ballet troupe

At the end of August, Anton Pimonov completes his work at the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater as the artistic director of the ballet troupe. As reported in the Perm theater, the last work of Mr. Pimonov in a cultural institution was the ballet “Raymonda”, which premiered yesterday, July 14th. Alexey Miroshnichenko, who headed the Perm Ballet from 2009 to 2020, will become the new head of the troupe.
Miroshnichenko will begin his duties in September, and in December he will present the premiere of the ballet “Yaroslavna” to the music of Boris Tishchenko.
Anton Pimonov has been heading the Perm Ballet for three years since 2020. In this position, he created a number of new productions, the vast majority of which became landmark events in the Russian ballet scene in the early 2020s.
Among the works of Mr. Pimonov in the Perm ballet are Mischievous Songs to the music of Francis Poulenc (2020), Concert No. 5 to the music of Sergei Prokofiev, Ballet Guide by Nastasya Khrushcheva and Pyotr Tchaikovsky (2021), The Arctic by Anton Svetlichny (2022 ) and “Raymonda” by Alexander Glazunov (together with Elena Pankova; 2023). “Naughty Songs” was nominated for the national theater award “Golden Mask”, and “Concert No. 5” was included in its long list.
In May, the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater was left by the general director Dovlet Anzarokov, who had headed the theater since June 2021. Mr. Anzarokov himself explained his departure by a conflict with the regional Ministry of Culture. Instead of Dovlet Anzarokov as the head of the theater became ex-head of the festival “Golden Mask” Anna Volk.
