The new chairman of the STD Vladimir Mashkov spoke about his program

Vladimir Mashkov was elected chairman of the Union of Theater Workers at the extraordinary congress of the Union of Theater Workers. He replaced Alexander Kalyagin, who had led the Union since 1996.

First of all, Vladimir Mashkov turned to Kalyagin after his election.

– San Sanych, I remember the filming of the film “I am Ivan, you are Abram.” I was young then, but I found myself surrounded by great actors. I remember how you were greeted and how you talked about my creative journeys.

And five years ago, when our heavenly teacher Oleg Tabakov passed away, I immediately came to you. And you supported me then, you and Galina Borisovna Volchek. Back then I wanted to make a theater district on Chistye Prudy. So that there would be personalized shops of great artists… God willing, we will still organize this space. This dream.

During the 27 years that you led the STD, a lot of incredible events took place – great, tragic. But you have always done a lot for the development of the theater. And what should happen next should be decided not by the chairman of the Theater Theater, but by the entire theater community.

“Learn what your predecessors did and move on,” Mashkov concluded.

Judging by his speech, Vladimir Lvovich was well prepared. And he named the creation of various opportunities for young actors and their employment as a priority task. It is important that a young artist appears on stage as early as possible. It is necessary to organize a separate labor exchange. In Sevastopol, for example, young artists are now very welcome.

The second is to support those who have dedicated their lives to the theater. It hurts to watch them live their lives without support, Mashkov said.

Another point is festivals and awards. Hot topic. It is necessary to reboot some STD projects, the new chairman of the Union believes, especially those that have lost the trust of the community and sponsors. This is, first of all, the “Golden Mask”.

And finally, it is necessary to include new regions of Russia in the STD.

Mashkov spoke about theatrical professions. I noted the festival of theater managers, which is held by the Vakhtangov Theater and Kirill Krok.

“Life doesn’t end with us. Theater is the work of young people. I’m not talking about age, but about the young at heart.” To connect generations is also what Mashkov sees as his task as chairman.
