The Netherlands increased Russian LNG imports by 35% in six months

Imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the Netherlands in the first half of 2022 increased by 57%, follows from report Dutch Central Bureau of Statistics. The main deliveries were made from the USA and Russia.
LNG deliveries from Russia increased by 35% year-on-year over the reporting period. At the same time, deliveries from the United States almost doubled – from 2.1 billion cubic meters. m in 2021 to 4.1 billion cubic meters. m in 2022. As a result, the share of American LNG has increased to about 50% of the total volume of LNG supplied to the country.
Consumption of natural gas in the Netherlands decreased by 25%. The country imported only 3% more natural gas in the first half of 2022, but exports decreased by 20%. Gas production in the Netherlands decreased by 18% in six months.
July 17 First Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Sorokin declaredthat Russia maintains current plans to increase the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) by 2035 to 120-140 million tons per year. In case of successful implementation, according to Sorokin, Russia by 2030 may take 15–20% of the global LNG market, which by this time will amount to about 700 million tons.
