The Ministry of Transport demanded to transfer identification marks on aircraft

Russian airlines must change identification marks on aircraft. Such a requirement is spelled out in the decree of the Ministry of Transport, published on the portal of legal information, drew attention RBC.
Under the new rules, the RA state mark and five-digit registration mark must be on the left half and undersurface of the wing. They must be separated by a hyphen. They must also be placed on the sides of the rear fuselage or on the fin. The document will be valid from September 1, 2023 to September 1, 2029. According to current regulations, the state mark RA and the registration mark must be on the wings of the aircraft.
RBC experts note that the new requirements comply with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). At the same time, these rules are not mandatory for foreign carriers. For example, in the USA they are not observed.
According to the Federal Air Transport Agency, Russian airlines operate about 550 aircraft. Representatives of air carriers interviewed by RBC criticized the new requirement. In their opinion, now the Russian aviation industry has more pressing problems, including maintaining the airworthiness of aircraft.
According to RSC interlocutors, airlines will have to remove Airbus or Boeing aircraft from the schedule for a period of several hours to four days in order to apply new markings. The publication’s experts believe that in total, the largest Russian air carriers will have to spend $5.5 million on these works.
