The Ministry of Industry and Trade will check the Russian chip in the LightCom monitor – Kommersant

The Ministry of Industry and Trade began an inspection because of a chip from the Russian company Milandr installed in a LightCom brand monitor. Previously, blogger Maxim Gorshenin in his video on the YouTube channel he said that the domestic chip was inserted into the monitor “for show” so that the Ministry of Industry and Trade could add the device to the register of Russian products with a high level of localization. According to him, “all the work” in the monitor is done by a Taiwanese-made chip, and the Russian one does not carry any functions.

According to message press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the department is checking the conclusion of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), issued to the V-MAX PTsVT .852859.300 monitor from LightCom based on a sufficient degree of localization. Prior to this, based on the conclusion of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the department included the monitor in the unified register of Russian radio-electronic products.

The press service noted that the monitor was included in the register “even without the use of a domestic controller,” since it scored a total of 140 points, 30 points of which were awarded for the controller (to be included in the register, you need to score 65 points). “We thank Maxim Gorshenin for his active position and willingness to report such dubious facts,” the department added.

On September 10, tech blogger Maxim Gorshenin in his video removed a chip from the Zelenograd company Milandr, which was declared as the main microcontroller, from the monitor. The blogger replaced the chip with a wire to close the circuit, after which the monitor worked just as well as with a domestic chip. According to Maxim Gorshenin, the main microcontroller in the monitor is a Taiwanese RTD2525AR chip from Realtek, which was hidden behind the radiator by LightCom assemblers.
