The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed to extend quotas for the export of nitrogen and complex fertilizers for the period from June 1 to November 30, 2024 in the amount of 19.74 million tons. Project government regulations developed by the ministry are published on the official portal of regulatory legal acts.

It follows from the document that the quota for the export of nitrogen fertilizers (urea, urea-ammonium mixture, ammonium nitrate) will be 12.5 million tons, complex fertilizers – 7.3 million tons. Quantitative restrictions on exports outside Russia will not affect states that are members of the Eurasian Economic Union.

The government introduced quotas on fertilizer exports from December 1, 2021 to guarantee supply to the domestic market and as one of the measures to curb rising food prices. Since then, the restrictions have been continuously extended. In November 2023 the authorities extended restrictions until May 31, 2024. The total volume of quotas for the period from December 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024 is 16.95 million tons.
