“After the stoppage of production, the plant is undergoing a conservation procedure, however, together with the St. Petersburg government, possible options for the development of the production site are being worked out,” the department said.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade again emphasized that NAMI is not going to buy the enterprise at the moment. At the same time, the authorities of St. Petersburg, together with the department, are discussing various options for the development of the plant.

Toyota suspended the work of the plant in St. Petersburg on March 4. This decision was made due to violations in the supply chain of parts.

At the end of September, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that the company had decided to close the enterprise. Information confirmed at Toyota. The company noted that after six months of inactivity, they see no prospects for resuming the work of the plant. The company’s Russian business will focus on supporting a dealer network that will continue to serve Russian customers of Toyota and Lexus, the automaker added. Problems with the assembly of foreign cars and the supply of components began in Russia against the backdrop of a special operation in Ukraine and the imposition of sanctions by Western countries against the Russian Federation.
