Russia is working on import substitution of spark plugs for Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) aircraft. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
“Work on import substitution of the demanded range of products is underway, including including spark plugs. The Russian analogue of candles is in production. Industrial enterprises are taking all necessary measures to provide them to the operators, ”the message says.
Rostec clarified that for some positions the work has already been completed, while for others it is “in full swing”. They noted that the results for the production of spark plugs are expected as early as 2023.
“Currently, there are no critical problems with the operation of the Superjet fleet, its readiness is maintained at a high level, the aircraft demonstrate high flight times – up to 370 hours per month,” the state corporation stressed.
Earlier today RBC citing sources at the six airlines flying the Superjet, informed about the shortage of spark plugs for Russian-French SaM146 engines due to US sanctions. In particular, Vladimir Panfilov, deputy general director of Iraero, warned about the risks of non-fulfillment of flight programs due to lack of details in a letter to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. According to the Aviatorshchina Telegram channel, the Rossiya airline is also experiencing difficulties (the group “Aeroflot“).
