The production site of Toyota Motor LLC in St. Petersburg is under conservation, the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation reported.
“In terms of the powers of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, we inform you that after the shutdown of production, the plant is undergoing a conservation procedure, however, together with the St. Petersburg government, possible options for developing the production site are being worked out. It should be noted that at present, the Federal State Unitary Enterprise NAMI, subordinate to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is not considering the purchase of a Toyota plant in St. Petersburg.
The day before at the enterprise started an unscheduled inspection of compliance with tax and labor laws initiated by the St. Petersburg prosecutor’s office, the basis for which, according to Kommersant’s sources, was information received by the prosecutor’s office about alleged violations.
Toyota announced the cessation of car production in Russia at the end of September after a six-month downtime at the St. Petersburg site. The company will continue to support the dealer network and service owners of Toyota and Lexus brands.
