The Russian Ministry of Finance has developed a draft resolution to postpone the start date of mandatory labeling of jewelry that was declared as surplus. According to a document published on portal draft legal acts, mandatory labeling will begin on September 1, 2025. Initially, mandatory labeling was to begin on September 1, 2024.

According to the draft resolution, moving the start date of marking will reduce the workload of the territorial bodies of the Federal Assay Chamber, which are involved in marking. This should also ensure a reduction in the administrative burden on participants in the jewelry industry.

The National Association of Pawnshops previously approached the Ministry of Finance with a request to postpone the start of mandatory labeling. It asked to postpone the start of labeling of products displayed for sale in storefronts, as well as jewelry balances, to January 1, 2027. The Association of Jewelers appealed to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin with a request to postpone the start of labeling of declared balances to September 1, 2026.
