According to the agency, there are already several enterprises in Russia that have the competence to service and repair foreign gas turbines of various capacities.

The Ministry of Energy clarified the requirements for the organization of equipment maintenance as counter-sanction measures, the representative office added. Also, since 2022, a mechanism has been implemented that regulates the resource saving of foreign-made gas turbines.

June 19 newspaper “Kommersant” reportedthat the US sanctions that came into force on June 18 may block the ability of power equipment manufacturers to maintain a presence in the Russian Federation, such a ban will also affect General Electric. GE itself confirmed that the company would no longer be able to provide engineering services in the country.

The interlocutors of the newspaper noted that the American company has limited access to monitoring, and may also stop supplying original spare parts. The capacity of the company’s gas turbines is about 5 GW in the Russian Federation, and the total capacity of power units based on such turbines is up to 8 GW.
