The Ministry of Digital Development is discussing with the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) and operators the issue of canceling fees for distributing the Internet from mobile devices. The head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadayev, spoke about this.
“On the one hand, operators suddenly began to commercialize it. On the other hand, the operators’ arguments are also clear, so we will somehow try to find a balance with both the operators and the FAS,” Mr. Shadayev said on the sidelines of the Kazan Digital Week forum (quoted from RIA Novosti).
According to him, the Ministry of Digital Development is considering the issue comprehensively: it is necessary for the speed to increase and new standards to be implemented. “So this is an additional cost. Naturally, we believe that we need to look for a middle ground here,” the minister noted.
In mid-September FAS demandedso that MTS, MegaFon, Beeline and Tele2 cancel the fee for distributing Internet traffic from mobile devices for a month. The agency threatened operators with cases of violating antimonopoly laws. As of September 18, the cost of Internet distribution from the Big Four was about 100 rubles. per month.
