The Ministry of Digital Development and banks agreed to continue preferential lending to IT companies

The program of preferential loans for the development and implementation of products for IT companies (regulated by government decree No. 1598) continues to operate, the Ministry of Digital Development reported in its Telegram channel. The ministry’s statement says that the department has found the necessary funds for additional financing of the program, which were required due to the Central Bank’s increase in the key rate to 15%.
“Companies that previously received notifications of a transfer to a commercial rate will retain preferential conditions. In the near future, the first wave of payments to banks will be completed and recalculation will be made. IT companies will not have to pay the market rate,” the ministry said in a statement.
Let us recall that in early December, a number of Russian IT companies that received preferential loans under the Ministry of Digital Development program collided with the fact that banks raised preferential rates to market rates – from 3% to 18.5%. Representatives of the banks explained this by the fact that the Ministry of Digital Development did not provide them with the funds necessary to compensate for the lost interest on preferential loans. According to two Kommersant sources familiar with the situation, on December 5, representatives of the Ministry of Digital Development and Sberbank held a closed meeting, where they agreed to return the raised rates to their original level.
