The Ministry of Culture will give money for a film about SVO, a film adaptation of Prilepin and a biopic about Limonov

Ministry of Culture of Russia decided to highlight state funding for the creation of 249 feature, non-fiction, animated films and series, as well as films for children and teenagers. In particular, films about the military operation in Ukraine “We Don’t Abandon Our Own” and “Lead Skies”, an adaptation of the story “The Forest” by writer Zakhar Prilepin, as well as documentary biographical films about the writer Eduard Limonov and director Nikita Mikhalkov will receive state support.

“Based on the results of the competitive selection, lists of projects recommended for receiving subsidies in 2023 were compiled in order to financially support expenses associated with the production of national films,”— notes Ministry of Culture

Among feature films, the film adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel “Treasure Island” and the film “Family Happiness” based on the novel by Leo Tolstoy will receive state support. Among children’s films, money from the Ministry of Culture and the Cinema Fund will receive the continuation of “Cheburashka”, as well as the film “Superangel”. Several military films will receive state support, including films about the events of the Great Patriotic War “The Postman” and “Suho Island”, as well as the detective story “The Porcelain Soldier” about the fighting in Syria. In addition, the state will support the filming of 105 non-fiction films, including films about writer Mikhail Bulgakov and director Leonid Shvartsman.
