The Ministry of Culture has extended the stay of Andrei Rublev’s icon “Holy Trinity” in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior at the request of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC). The icon will stay there until July 19. This was reported in the press service of the department.
The report says that experts, including employees of the Tretyakov Gallery, are monitoring the condition of the icon. “The icon is in a stable condition: no sharp fluctuations in temperature and humidity were recorded in the temple,” the ministry said.
Representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church asked to extend the stay of the icon so that believers could bow to the icon on the feast of St. Sergius of Radonezh. His memory is honored on July 18.
