Filmmakers who have agreed on state support between 2019 and 2021 may receive a delay to complete film production. This is possible if in 2022 they have difficulties in the film process due to sanctions. Extension is possible for no more than two years, informs Ministry of Culture.
As of February 24, 2022, the film must have been in pre-production, filming, or post-production periods as part of the delay. Cinematography organizations can apply to the Ministry of Culture for a one-time extension until December 1, 2022.
Earlier, against the background of sanctions and, as a result, the cancellation of Hollywood premieres, cinema chains in Russia reported a loss of half of their revenue since the beginning of March. Cinema networks are waiting for a further deterioration in performance – Hollywood releases brought them up to 80% of their income.
