It is no longer possible to return part of the debts in the housing and communal services sector in Russia, said Alexei Yeresko, deputy head of the Ministry of Construction. He estimated the amount of debt at 1.4 trillion rubles, calling this figure “very large.”
However, according to Mr. Yeresko, one should not rely on this amount, since “it does not reflect the real picture.” He argues that most of the debt has accumulated “on enterprises, many of which no longer exist, on real estate objects that no longer exist.”
“These are the debts of both residents to resource-supplying organizations and enterprises. It is no longer possible to recover them in full, ”said the deputy minister in an interview with RIA Real Estate.
By data Rosstat, according to the results of the first quarter of 2022, the debts of Russians for housing and communal services increased to 804.5 billion rubles. This is 7.6% more than a year earlier, and this growth was a record.
