Imports of sugar beet seeds to Russia should be carried out according to the “historical principle”, that is, only those Russian legal entities that have previously been engaged in the supply of such products to the domestic market will receive the right to import them. Such a proposal was made by a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture at a meeting in the department on August 2, two of its participants told Vedomosti.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the largest players in the Russian sugar market Prodimexa and Rusagro, as well as the Union of Sugar Producers of Russia (Soyuzsakhar) and Soyuzsemsvekla – JV Rusagro and the seed producer Schelkovo Agrokhim. In these companies and associations, Vedomosti did not respond to inquiries. The same was done in the Ministry of Agriculture.
