The Ministry of Agriculture may increase the amount of compensation for the costs of creating greenhouses for seeds of cucumbers and tomatoes

The Ministry of Agriculture began to collect information from potential investors on the necessary compensation for the construction of breeding and seed centers for the production of seeds of vegetables of tomatoes and cucumbers. This was reported to Vedomosti by two participants in the meeting, which took place at the ministry on March 2. According to them, the problem of the lack of funds to cover the costs of creating such complexes was discussed there.

They explain the current difficulties by the method of calculating compensation. Now the state returns to investors 50% of the costs, but on condition that they invest a maximum of 1.39 million rubles in the production of 1 ton of seeds. (for facilities whose construction began before 2022 – 1 million rubles). These rules apply to both open and closed ground. But the cost of creating greenhouses is 420 million rubles. per hectare, said an employee of one of the manufacturing companies. At the same time, according to him, only 100 kg per year can be collected from it. It turns out that investors can return only 50,000–70,000 rubles. from 1 ha. Such measures to support investors do not stimulate in any way, says the source of Vedomosti. According to him, for this reason, not a single center specializing in the production of seeds for greenhouse vegetables is currently being built in Russia.

The representative of the Ministry of Agriculture did not deny the fact of the meeting and its subject matter to Vedomosti. And he confirmed that the ministry is ready to consider the possibility of changing the maximum cost of the project, from which compensation is calculated. Since 2023, the department has already increased its size from 20 to 50% during the construction of selection and seed centers. Such a measure, according to the plan of officials, should reduce the dependence of Russian plant growers on imported seeds.
