The Ministry of Agriculture expects a decline in fuel prices after export restrictions

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Maxim Uvaidov said TASSthat the situation with fuel supplies to farmers in Russia has begun to stabilize. He expressed hope that restrictive measures on the export of petroleum products will also help stabilize prices.

“We hope that these decisions will also help stabilize prices. It is important for us that, especially during the harvesting period and now (the sowing of winter crops is beginning in a number of regions), there is enough fuel for our agricultural producers,” said Maxim Uvaidov. According to him, the department was “especially worried” about the southern regions.

The Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev himself announced the stabilization of fuel supplies to farmers. On September 20, he spoke in the State Duma, saying that the situation had improved over the past 10 days, but “still requires special attention.”

In early August, the Ministry of Agriculture reported that it had received requests from several regions about rising prices for fuels and lubricants for the agricultural sector. Interfax reported that the rise in diesel fuel prices mainly affects farmers who are harvesting crops and preparing fields for future sowing. Yesterday, September 21, the government announced on the introduction of temporary restrictions on the export of motor gasoline and diesel fuel to stabilize the domestic market. The Ministry of Energy reported that the measures will help stop the gray export of motor fuel.
