The Ministry of Agriculture demanded to find buyers of powdered milk and whey abroad

The Ministry of Agriculture asked the agricultural company (they are engaged in the promotion of Russian agricultural products on foreign markets) to find buyers for milk powder and whey, which are used for the production of baby food, confectionery, as feed, and so on. This was told to Vedomosti by two participants in the meeting on May 3, at which this issue was discussed. They associate the demand itself with an overabundance of such products on the Russian market.

Now producers have 17,300 tons of skimmed milk powder (SOM) and 24,600 tons of dry whey, confirms Soyuzmolok CEO Artem Belov, who held a number of meetings with the farmer. The association did not disclose last year’s indicators, but its materials for 2022 say that the stocks of all dairy products in the country increased by 40% to 1.4 million tons. months, SMP volumes were 3.3 times (up to 16,300 tons) higher than in February 2022. Dried whey stocks in the same period increased by 97% to 24,600 tons year-on-year.
