The Ministry of Agriculture denied information about a 20% increase in prices for sausage and dumplings since the beginning of the year. The Ministry of Agriculture reported this to reporters on December 4.
“The information disseminated in the media about the rise in price of dumplings and sausages by 20% since the beginning of the year does not correspond to reality,” the ministry noted (quoted from TASS).
The department emphasized that the domestic market is supplied with these products, prices for them are stable, and the dynamics of price changes is at the level of inflation.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, in Russia over the ten months of 2023, sausage production increased by 2.5% compared to a year earlier. Production of semi-finished meat products over the same period increased by 6.2%. It is indicated that manufacturers plan to increase production taking into account the needs of the population.
Earlier, media and Telegram channels reported a 20% increase in prices for sausages and semi-finished meat products from January 2023. The increase in prices was associated with a shortage of products due to the spread of influenza and plague in animals. In particular, in November in the Primorsky Territory there was discovered outbreak of African swine fever (ASF). Due to the disease, 12% of the total pig population in the region, more than 55 thousand, was destroyed. In September, an ASF outbreak occurred in the Krasnodar Territory.
