On December 16, Avatar: The Way of the Water was released worldwide. The premiere of the first part took place in 2009 and collected record $2.9 billion. The sequel took 13 years to film. The delay was largely technical in nature. Filming took place under water, which required the development of a special camera system and other innovative technologies. In terms of costs, Avatar 2 is among the ten most expensive films – its budget, according to data media, amounted to $350–400 million.

There are three more films in the plans. The premiere of Avatar 3, which was filmed in parallel with the second, is scheduled for December 2024. The release of the fourth and fifth, according to director James Cameron, depends on the success of the previous ones.
