At the end of 2023, Russian films earned $17.6 million in foreign box office, or 2.8% higher than in 2022. The leader in box office was the cartoon “Cats of the Hermitage”, which earned $5 million. This follows from data from the analytical company Comscore, which cites “Film Distributor’s Bulletin.”

In second place at the foreign box office is the science fiction film Mira. In Mexico, it collected $1.091 million. The film’s total revenue reached $2.157 million. In third place was the drama “Tchaikovsky’s Wife.” The grosses of this film amounted to $1.570 million. In fourth place is the cartoon “Koschey. The Bride Snatcher,” which grossed $1,200 million at the foreign box office. In fifth place is the cartoon “The Great Journey. Special Delivery,” which grossed $1.170 million.

Foreign box office receipts last year amounted to $17.6 million. They did not exceed the figure of two years ago (2021), when the revenue of domestic films at the foreign box office reached $18.2 million.

At the end of the year, France became the most profitable market for Russian projects. In this country, Russian films collected $2.144 million. Second place was taken by Mexico ($1.860 million), third by Peru ($1.189 million). Box office receipts in South Korea and Bulgaria exceeded $1 million.
