The LDPR proposed reducing the airtime of advertising for bookmakers

A group of LDPR deputies is introducing a bill to the State Duma that would reduce the airtime of bookmaker advertising by two hours. Currently, such advertising is allowed from 22:00 to 7:00. The document establishes the time period from 23:00 to 6:00.
In addition, the authors of the initiative proposed introducing the total duration of such advertising at a level of no more than 10% (currently 20%) of the total permissible advertising time during the broadcast of sports competitions, reports TASS with a link to the document. Changes are proposed to be made to the Law “On Advertising”.
One of the authors of the draft law, deputy head of the LDPR faction in the State Duma, Sergei Leonov, recalled that the organization of the gambling business in Russia is permissible only in five special zones, and casino advertising is prohibited. “Alternative gambling establishments began to appear everywhere – bookmakers and various kinds of lotteries. They… can lead to dire financial consequences for unrestrained people. It is necessary to curb their appetites and at least reduce the amount of advertising of such organizations,”— stated He.
According to the calculations of the Bookmaker Rating, in the third quarter the volume of the bookmaker market in the Russian Federation amounted to 320 billion rubles, an increase over the year of 45%. Bookmakers estimated year-on-year growth at 20–30%, noting that the third quarter was full of sporting events.
