The Grand Prix of the 45th Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) – the Golden Saint George Award – went to the film “Three Brothers” by Brazilian director Francisco Paparella. The film was filmed in Argentina and Chile.
“A film with a strong story, wonderful acting, visual design and all the elements that make up a powerful, heartbreaking film,” said the chairman of the jury of the main competition of the MIFF, Indian director Rahul Ravel (quote from Interfax).
The award for the best film of the documentary film competition – “Silver St. George” – was received by Yulia Bobkova’s film “History of Russian Prisons. Vladimir Central”. In the Russian Premiers competition, Svetlana Samoshina’s Edge of the Broken Moon was recognized as the best.
“Silver St. George” for directing was received by the Mexican Tonatya Garcia for the film “Black Moon” (the tape also received the Audience Award). The same award for best male role was awarded to Fernando Arce from Bolivia (“Those who are below”). Best Actress – Japanese actress Kaho Seto (“Fragile Flowers in the Stream of Days”). The jury awarded the Bulgarian-Canadian director Teodor Ushev with a special prize.
The MIFF opened on April 20 and will end today, April 27. The main competition program was held at the Rossiya Theatre. It includes 11 films from different countries.
