The Kremlin does not know about the request of bloggers to unblock Instagram and Facebook

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin did not receive an appeal from bloggers to unblock the social networks Instagram and Facebook (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

“How can one relate to the initiative of something that does not exist. To be honest, I don’t have much information. Some section, not a section, but we proceed from what was stated in the Federation Council. There is no position here, because it is rather an impersonal appeal that is not considered, ”Dmitry Peskov said at a press call.

On the eve of Vedomosti reportedthat the council of bloggers under the Federation Council sent letters to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev with a request to unblock Instagram and Facebook. In the Federation Council refuted the existence of a council of bloggers. They also promised to exclude Valeria Rytvina from the experts, who told Vedomosti about the bloggers’ letter and called herself the coordinator of the council.

In March, Instagram and Facebook were blocked in Russia at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office. Russia has recognized Meta as an extremist organization. On October 11, the company was included in the list of Rosfinmonitoring extremists and terrorists.
