Despite the increased presence of Chinese, Turkish and Russian brands, in recent months there has been a shortage in the embedded appliances market due to the departure of leaders represented by Bosch and Electrolux, said Dmitry Levin, managing director of large household appliances at Marvel Distribution. “Installation has proven to be one of the most difficult categories for new Chinese brands to replace, as consumer preferences are completely different in China,” he says.

For example, in China, almost 90% of the hobs market are produced with two burners, the expert specifies. “Russia is still buying traditional four and is not ready to switch to a different standard. There are some nuances with dimensions. Our most popular refrigerator size is 60 cm wide with a bottom freezer, in Asia it is 70 cm wide with a top freezer. Also in Russia, narrow washing machines with a depth of 45 cm are popular, and many European brands have adapted to this feature. After their departure, not all Asian brands can offer a replacement yet: they mostly have full-size models with a depth of 60 cm,” he said.

In the category of built-in appliances, there is no one yet to fully replace the departed leaders – Bosch and Electrolux, Mr. Levin is sure. According to him, other brands did not create complex solutions and did not produce entire lines in different price categories, and buyers often want to have a kitchen in the same style. Now, the top manager adds, one has to buy ovens from some, hobs from others, and hoods from still others.
