The capacity of renewable energy sources (RES) in the world will grow by 75% in 2022-2027, or by 2400 GW. This is stated in the report of the International Energy Agency (IEA) of December 6. The share of renewables in global electricity generation, according to the agency’s forecasts, will grow from 25% in 2021 to 38% in 2027.
IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol said renewables were “already growing fast enough,” but the global energy crisis has accelerated their growth. “In the next five years, the world will have as many [мощностей] RES, how much for the previous 20 years, ”the agency quotes him in a release.
