The icon “Trinity” by Andrei Rublev was taken from the Cathedral of Christ the Savior to the All-Russian Artistic Research and Restoration Center named after Academician Grabar. The staff of the center should carry out the restoration. According to TASSit has already been delivered to the center.
As transmits “RIA News”, from the showcase in which the icon was in the temple, it was transferred to a special box and loaded into a specially equipped car for the transportation of artistic values of the Art-Courier company. In the footage published by the agency, the car with the icon was accompanied by the traffic police.
The icon has been in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior since June 3. In the center named after Grabar for the icon prepared a special room with climate control, a gas fire extinguishing system, technical security equipment. The restoration committee believes that the restoration of the icon will take at least a year.
July 12 Patriarch Kirill and Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova signed an agreement on the transfer of the “Trinity” to the gratuitous use of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra for 49 years with the possibility of extension. In the Tretyakov Gallery, where the icon has been since 1929, they said that the museum’s restorers, according to the contract, should also periodically inspect the “Trinity”.
