The head of Tinkoff Bank Stanislav Bliznyuk at the Finopolis–2023 forum spoke about two problems that have recently been observed in the IT market. According to him, in Russia there is a “terrible” shortage of IT specialists, as a result of which the professional skills of potential candidates are declining.
“When a person enters the IT market, within three days he receives five to seven offers, and with a raise. There’s just a terrible staff shortage. What does shortage lead to? Two consequences. One consequence is that the price will rise, this is a challenge for many companies,” noted Mr. Bliznyuk, whose words are quoted RBC.
The head of Tinkoff Bank called the deterioration in the quality of personnel another consequence of this trend. “Because why study if they’ll take you anyway with just a few strong skills,” explained Stanislav Bliznyuk. He clarified that Tinkoff itself has not yet particularly encountered this problem, but will probably feel it in the next three to five years.
At the beginning of 2021, the shortage of qualified personnel in the IT field reached from 500 thousand to 1 million people per year. According to the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadayev, at the end of August 2022, there is a shortage of personnel in the IT industry amounted to about 500–700 thousand people.
