The Moscow Exchange is considering a scenario in which the United States will impose sanctions against the National Settlement Depository (NSD), said Sergey Shvetsov, head of the Supervisory Board. He also did not rule out the imposition of restrictions on the National Clearing Center and the Moscow Exchange itself.

“In our preparations for possible sanctions, of course, NSD is taken into account as a combat unit of the Moscow Exchange group, that is, we are considering this scenario. Any Russian organization, it seems to me, should consider a scenario where it falls under sanctions in the current conditions,” said Mr. Shvetsov (quoted by Interfax).

NSD came under EU sanctions in June. EC allowed settlements with him if NSD does not receive benefits. The amount of blocked securities of Russian residents due to sanctions against NSD is about 6 trillion rubles. Because of these sanctions, the Moscow Exchange led the preparation class action lawsuit.
