People’s Artist of the RSFSR, head of the Moscow Classical Ballet Theater Natalia Kasatkina, died tonight, March 14, reported “RIA News” her assistant Valentina Buryanova. Mrs. Kasatkina was 89 years old.

Natalia Kasatkina was born on June 7, 1934 in Moscow. In 1953 she graduated from the Moscow Choreographic School. From 1954 to 1976, Mrs. Kasatkina was a soloist with the Bolshoi Theater ballet troupe. In 1977, she was appointed chief choreographer of the Classical Ballet concert ensemble. Since then, Natalia Kasatkina, together with her husband Vladimir Vasiliev, have been the permanent artistic directors of this troupe.

In 1968, Natalia Kasatkina was awarded the title Honored Artist of the RSFSR. In 2005 she was awarded the Order of Honor, in 2020 – the Order of Friendship.
