The head of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation Vitaly Savelyev agreed to consider the possibility of building a high-speed railway line (HSR) from Russia to Minsk. Thus, it is planned to extend the Moscow-St. Petersburg route.
The minister was asked about the possibility of extending the high-speed rail line to Minsk during the government hour at a session of the parliamentary assembly of the union of Belarus and Russia. Mr. Saveliev recalled that it is planned to build the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed line.
“And at the next pace, we will see the second part of the road – to Minsk. Let’s just think it over together, let’s see how much it will cost and what it will give us,” the Minister of Transport specified (quoted by RIA Novosti).
The plan for the construction of a high-speed line from Moscow to St. Petersburg was agreed in August 2021. Complete highway construction planned by 2027. Passengers will be transported along the HSR by a specially designed rolling stock capable of reaching speeds of up to 400 km/h.
