At the informal meeting of the Council of Ministers of the European Union (EU) on energy, which is taking place in Prague, they are not discussing the limitation of prices for natural gas from the Russian Federation. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, Josef Sikela.
“There is no longer a proposal on the (establishment.— “b”) price ceiling for gas supplied through pipelines from the Russian Federation,” the minister told reporters before the meeting (quoted from TASS). According to him, “a number” of options for limiting gas prices at the EU level are being discussed.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in September suggested introduce a ceiling on Russian gas prices. As part of the eighth package of sanctions agreed in early October, the EU introduced oil price ceiling from the Russian Federation. Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation warned, which excludes the sale of oil or gas at a limited price. Yesterday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on Europe to completely abandon the purchase of Russian energy resources.
