The head of the Federal Customs Service called the ban on the import of cars and smartphones into the EU lawlessness – Kommersant

The ban on the entry of Russians into the European Union (EU) in personal cars, as well as with their smartphones and shampoos, is “complete lawlessness,” Acting Head of the Federal Customs Service (FCS) Ruslan Davydov told RBC. He considers this decision illegal.

“The stupidity of the Europeans and complete chaos in general is what they are doing. You see, these are goods for personal use. They decided to ban trade. Therefore, from the point of view of normal customs logic, their decisions are absolutely illegal,” said RBC Mr. Davydov on the sidelines of the EEF.

He recalled that EU countries have frozen customs cooperation with Russia, so “we cannot influence them, at least through customs forces.” The acting head of the Federal Customs Service expressed the hope that Russia “will not create such chaos,” since “we are civilized people, unlike them.”

According to clarifications The European Commission (EC), regardless of whether the personal transport of Russians is used for private or commercial purposes, it can be seized. The EC also announced that Russian citizens crossing the EU border cannot bring with them, among other things, mobile phones, laptops, suitcases, cosmetics, leather and fur products, semi-precious stones, toilet paper, shampoos, toothpastes, cameras. European customs may not miss all this.
