The head of Russian Railways, Oleg Belozerov, during a meeting of the Russian Ministry of Transport, said that the holding received a record income of 3.017 trillion rubles in 2023.

“What do these numbers say? They say, first of all, that the work of the railways is in demand. More and more shippers and passengers are seeking to use our services,” said Mr. Belozerov (quoted from TASS).

On March 1, Russian Railways reported that the company’s net profit for 2023 according to RAS amounted to 118.3 billion rubles, which is 2.5 times more than in 2022. The holding’s total income amounted to 2.6 trillion rubles, which is 16.4% higher than the 2022 level, the company said then. EBITDA amounted to RUB 736.9 billion. (+38.5% year on year).

Earlier, the Financial Times wrote that Russian Railways benefited from the crisis in the Red Sea. Houthi attacks on merchant ships have led to an increase in shipping in Russia. Since December 2023, the number of requests for transportation via this route has increased by 40%.
