It is technically possible to restore the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station and the Kakhovskoye reservoir, Dmitry Kirillov, head of the Federal Water Resources Agency, believes. In his opinion, the issue of restoring the operation of the North Crimean and Kakhovskoye main canals is more important.
“It is possible to restore the Kakhovka reservoir and the dam in one way or another. There are different opinions – in the same place or another, with or without a hydroelectric power station. This solution can be chosen,” said Mr. Kirillov “RIA News”. According to him, technical solutions will be implemented when “all the necessary conditions are in place.”
Dmitry Kirillov said that since 2014 the authorities have been paying special attention to the water supply of Crimea. The use of water in housing and communal services is being rationalized, work is underway to reduce losses in networks, and additional underground sources are involved.
