The Gutseriev family withdrew from the shareholders of Russian Coal and the Kuzbass Fuel Company

The owner of the Samfar group, Mikhail Gutseriev, and his family members withdrew from the capital of the Russian Coal holding and the Kuzbass Fuel Company (KTK), follows from the company’s reports for 2022, which drew attention Interfax.
According to reporting Russian Coal JSC, Sait-Salam Gutseriev ceased to be the beneficial owner of the company on August 11, 2022. His place was taken by the former vice-president of Slavneft and co-owner of CPC Iskender Khalilov. There are no other members of the Gutseriev family in the list of affiliated persons of Russian Coal JSC, which until now was considered an asset of the Samfar group of Mikhail Gutseriev.
According to the agency, as of December 31, 2022, CPC reports list Mr. Khalilov and Viktor Pichugov, a former senator from the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, as the beneficial owners of the company. At the same time, in the reporting for 2021, in addition to Mr. Khalilov, the ultimate owner of CPC was Sait-Salam Gutseriev, and according to data for 2020, Kilton, controlled by Mikhail Gutseriev, was the controlling shareholder of the company with a share of almost 52%.
December 26, 2022 Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an order that allows Omega LLC to acquire almost 100% of CPC shares from foreign structures with the subsequent transfer of the asset secured by VTB. At the same time, Omega, according to reports, is an affiliate of Russian Coal. On September 14, 2022, Russian Coal received 100% of Omega and pledged it to VTB, the agency reports, citing data from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.
As Interfax notes with reference to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, the 100% owner of Omega until September 14 last year was the Cypriot Millfast, which, according to CPC reports for the first quarter of 2021, is controlled by Viktor Pichugov.

The European Union claimed that Mr. Gutseriev is a longtime friend of Alexander Lukashenko and, thanks to this, “has accumulated significant wealth and influence among the political elite” of Belarus. The son of an entrepreneur – Said Gutseriev – hit under British sanctions related to the military operation in Ukraine on June 29 last year.
