In the Museum of the History of the Gulag, the screening of the films “Captain Volkonogov fled” and “For you and me” was canceled. They were supposed to be shown on the night of August 27 as part of the “Cinema Night” action, the museum cannot officially comment on the reason for the cancellation.
The film “Captain Volkonogov fled” by Natasha Merkulova and Alexei Chupov about an NKVD officer who is trying to get forgiveness from his victims’ relatives was supposed to be shown in Russia for the first time. The film “For You and Us” by Andrey Smirnov, which tells about the period of repression, was previously only on streaming.
A couple of hours after the information about the shows appeared, they were canceled; the posters indicate that “the event is completed”, informs BFM.ru. “There were no complaints to the museum. Unfortunately, we don’t have much to say. “Movie Night” has already passed, the films were not shown, they were not tolerated, ”the museum told the publication. “Climb”. In the capital’s Department of Culture, the situation has not yet been commented on.
In Russia, the official distribution of “Captain Volkonogov” had to start in April 2022, in March the tape was removed from the release schedule, its producer Evgeny Nikishov stated that there were no “rolling prospects”.
