The Cabinet of Ministers will expand by almost 2.5 billion rubles. volume of support for idle southern and central airports in Russia. This statement was made by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a government meeting on Wednesday.
Mishustin noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to support airports during “enforced downtime.” The Prime Minister stressed that it is important to keep specialists and equipment at airports.
“We will expand the operating expenses compensation program for them by almost 2.5 billion rubles,” – declared Mishustin.
He also added that additional trains and intercity buses have been launched in those cities where air traffic has been suspended to solve the logistical problems that have arisen.
The regime of temporary restriction of flights was introduced on February 24, the day the Russian special operation in Ukraine began. Since then, the restrictions have been extended more than 20 times. Earlier, the Federal Air Transport Agency banned flights until August 23. Airports in Anapa, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Gelendzhik, Krasnodar, Kursk, Lipetsk, Rostov-on-Don, Simferopol and Elista remain closed.
On August 1, the Federal Air Transport Agency submitted to the government a draft decree on the extension of measures to support them for the third quarter of 2022. The agency asked to pay an additional 2.4 billion rubles to the southern airports of Russia.
Prior to this, the government has already allocated 3.1 billion rubles. as support. In May of this year, subsidies in the amount of 1.3 billion rubles were transferred to airports. for March and April. The next payment for May and June is scheduled for August.
